Scarlet Witch MCU
Scarlet Witch became part of the MCU in Avengers: Age of Ultron and was at first depicted as a villain, along with her twin brother (Quicksilver). The character actually first appeared in Captain America: The Winter Soldier in an after credits scene. Scarlet Witch is of course her alias, her original name is Wanda Maximoff and along with her twin brother Pietro Maximoff acquired her powers from Baron Von Strucker. Scarlet Witch has had a hard time in the MCU. In Age of Ultron she lost her brother when he sacrificed himself to save Hawkeye. Later, in Captain America: Civil War she deflected a bomb set off by Crossbones but only in the direction of innocent bystanders causing devastation. The character appeared to be getting close to Vision in Captain America: Civil War and it remains to be seen if their relationship develops, as it does in the comics. When the Sokovia Accords were enforced by Thaddeus Ross and Tony Stark, Wanda sides with Captain America and his allies in the fight against Stark and his.
Scarlet Witch in the Comics
Scarlet Witch was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby and first appeared in X-Men #4 in March of 1964. Wanda Maximoff is the twin sister of Quicksilver and child of Magneto (until a retcon in 2014) and has featured in the X-Men and the Avengers. The character has been in a relationship with Vision and they even had children together. In recent years, the comics have steered away from referring to the Maximoff twins as mutants, one might speculate that this is so that Marvel can protect the image of the movie franchise where they are simply referred to as 'enhanced'.
